In Q2 2023, the performance of the top 5 communication apps in Ghana showcased interesting trends across downloads and active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, reveals how these apps fared on a unified platform.

WhatsApp Messenger saw a notable fluctuation in weekly downloads, starting strong with over 224K downloads at the end of March, peaking at approximately 247K in mid-April, and then experiencing a steady decline to around 52K by the end of June. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 5.1M and 5.2M throughout the quarter.

WhatsApp Business experienced a decline in weekly downloads, starting at 223K in late March and dropping to about 62K by the end of June. However, active users showed a consistent increase, rising from 2.6M to over 3M in the same period.

Opera Mini: Fast Web Browser maintained steady weekly downloads, fluctuating between 24K and 36K. Active users saw a gradual decline, starting at 628K in late March and ending at around 612K by the end of June. The app also generated minimal revenue during the quarter.
